“Girl + Poverty + No Education = Husband, Babies, Hunger, HIV.
“With 600 million girls in the developing world, might this be a prescription for changing the world.
“Girl + Education = Loan, Business, Community Development, Gender Equality.”

Yes, that might certainly be one prescription. However the problem with prescriptions overall is that they tether our plans to a reality we do not want – starting with the problem, and creating a plan to find the solution.
Until we tether our plans to a vision of the world we DO want, we will continue to hang our hat on one solution or another, putting fingers in the never-ending holes in the dam.
Ending poverty, ending hunger – these are all problems to be solved. With problem-solving plans to address those issues – no matter how grand the scale – the best future we will envision is one that mirrors today, just sans Problem X or Y.
What is the future we DO want? Once we aim at that positive image (not the end of anything, but the beginning of… what?) we can plan to create that. It’s not as hard as one might think, because we are creating the future right now, with everything we do.
Along the way to creating the world we DO want, we will solve our current problems. What we will find by doing so is that the good stuff is what lies beyond the problem-solving.
