The news report that changed my life

October 22nd, 2009 by admin

It is now 25 years since maybe one of the most important and influential pieces of news ever broadcasted by the BBC changed my life.

Michael Buerk’s 23 October, 1984 report of the Ethiopian famine was a wakeup call to the world. The LIVE AID concert was a direct result of Bob Geldof watching this story unfold on the 6pm BBC evening news.

Here we are 25 years later in 2009, and Ethiopia as well as many other regions of the world are facing a similar ‘hunger’ tragedy.

For me this raises many questions, the most obvious is; “Why is this still happening?”

I believe it is going to take a new kind of approach to bring to an end such human misery and suffering.

Please take a few minutes to watch these 2 videos and maybe it will change your life, and then share with your friends and family.
